Most drug and alcohol addicts are men but little effort has been made to address the special issues that are unique to men. The highly original aspects of this package's approach to addiction recovery include: identifying issues of male sexuality; the macho personality; inhibitors to successful interventions; relationships with women; and the power of group treatment. The package includes many proven exercises and therapeutic techniques customized for men. This is an ideal resource for community institutions and leading individual trainers, therapists, drug and alcohol counselors, ministers and other spiritual leaders.

The full title, "Recovery from eating disorders: a guide for clinicians and their clients," might suggest that this book is going to be either technical or encyclopedic. It is neither (which is what I was looking for). The entire thing can be read in a few hours if you're feeling up to it.

The intended audience of this book seems to be people with an eating disorder who are currently working with a therapist. There are simple questionnaires within most chapters that patients can use both to evaluate themselves and have something to work through with a professional.

I read this book as someone who has a friend with an eating disorder and wanted to learn more. It is a good consolidation of general information on the topic and contains journal excerpts written by people in recovery. For my purposes, this book was very useful and I would recommend it.
