Research Methods in Forensic Psychology

This is a good book to use as a reference when doing psycho-legal research. It covers the basics and gives students a good idea of the type of forensic psychological research being done. This book is a collection of articles by those well known in the field that are put together to explain the type of research done in this field. Unfortunately, much of the research could only be conducted by people with access to populations that most graduate students would never have.

I had really hoped this book could be used as a main text for a graduate level forensic research methodology course, but the focus assumes an understanding of the research methodologies being used. I found the title a bit misleading- I had assumed that it would cover the methodological theories (method type) used, not the type/subject of research. For instance, when I read the table of contents and saw eyewitness testimony and competency to stand trial research, I had hoped it would explain how do go about doing this research- it describes what is done, not how to do it (for the most part).
